CINEMA 4D for students with big plans

CINEMA 4D is being used by students on the Architecture/Interior Design courses at the Fachhochschule Stuttgart, Germany.

Each semester different areas are explored such as private housing, public housing and so on.

On the second semester there was an exercise to redesign Hoelderlin school, which is also in Stuttgart. After a few tours and chats with some of the teachers and pupils at Hoelderlin it soon because apparent where the architecture students could apply their design skills.

The design was created in ArchiCAD during classes then transferred directly to CINEMA 4D using the new exchange plugin that bridges the two programs.

Isometric views of the design were then filled with cubes acting as placeholders for furniture. "Often this is all you need to understand the space," said Peter Hoffman. The isometric views were rendered in CINEMA 4D using the Sketch and Toon module. The two students had about a week to come up with the model and plans.
