Character animation for the McDonald's television spot "Taking Off".

Oscar-nominated director Ian Emes created the McDonald's television spot "Taking Off" together with Effekt-Etage.

The spot required that two albatross, each with its own personality, be brought to life - Albert is the older, more experienced, more relaxed character; Ross, on the other hand, is young and carefree. Animated toy airplanes also had to be dynamically integrated into the live-action scenes. Everything had to then be integrated into live-action scenes, filmed in Munich, Germany in 35mm format.

Effekt-Etage supervised all filming with regard to post-production. Digital image editing for 3D animations, color grading, wire removal, set extension, and the integration of 3D elements with live-action were all completed entirely by Effekt-Etage.

CINEMA 4D was used to model, rig, texture and animate the albatross and toy airplanes. Subsequently, everything was rendered on Effekt-Etage's in-house render farm using CINEMA 4D NET Render.

"CINEMA 4D has once again proven itself as an application that can easily handle high-end television production. Especially the integrated rigging and character animation functions proved to be invaluable and made it possible for this spot to be produced very quickly".
