Esztergom Bath in Hungary
Finta Studio, one of Hungary's largest architectural firms, designed a huge bath project which was visualized by Tamás Podlovic in CINEMA 4D

Since the construction of the bath had already begun, Tamás Podlovics went to see the building site and took a few pictures of all the scaffolding that filled the interior. Later, he received the dxf plans from the studio. He had a total of two weeks to create the interior images, since construction was already under way and marketing desperately needed something to show. The entire modeling was done in CINEMA 4D. The building itself was quite complicated, with angled walls and columns, sloping ceilings, and a very dynamic interior and exterior - not a very traditional architecture. However, in CINEMA 4D, the modeling of such complicated spaces was not a problem. Using as few polygons as possible kept the model relatively small in size, and the rendering very fast. The entire model is 20 MB in CINEMA 4D, of which the plants in the center made up 12 MB. That means that the architectural model is only 8 MB. There are 165 light sources. Instead of using radiosity for realistic renderings, multiple light sources and raytracing were used, which sped up the rendering process. The caustic effects were also created with fake light sources as opposed to actually using the caustic feature in CINEMA 4D. Also, for most of the project, animations were created and, for that reason, one needs optimal modeling and lighting.
"The final images turned out to be so realistic that the journalist who published them in the magazine of the Hungarian Tourism Inc. asked if these were photos. When I told him they were computer images he couldn't believe it.
The client liked the images so much that they ordered the images of the exterior pools and the saunas as well. Creating further visualizations took me one more week", said Tamás Podlovic.
About Tamás Podlovics
Tamás Podlovics is an Architect (38) and father of 3 daughters. His professional education includes studies in the United States, and he worked for 3 years in an architectural office in Zurich, Switzerland.
He currently lives in a small village, 30km from Budapest, on an island on the Danube River.
Tamás specializes entirely in 3D visualization, mostly architectural, and works with different architects throughout Hungary, in Switzerland and Ireland. Since most architectural applications cannot create interiors, this constitutes most of his work. He works independently at home and sometimes works on 2-3 projects at the same time. This type of work is his favorite, since it is very creative and exciting. This leaves him enough free time to be with his family and take part in various athletic disciplines. Tamás started to run Marathons last year, and this year he will participate in the Iron Man competition of Hungary.
