BMW Hydrogen 7
3D artist Marc Potocnik used CINEMA 4D to visualize the BMW 7-series' new hydrogen power train technology.
|

simple GmbH uses a combination of overlaid photos, renderings and animations that are displayed on monitors to create an "enhanced reality" and guide the viewer through the motor and hydrogen tank. All elements are displayed in correct perspective over footage of the real motor or tank.
Marc was able to use existing data supplied by the BMW Group that it had already created using CINEMA 4D. This allowed Marc to promptly add realistic shading and lighting. The high level of detail in the geometry, consisting of up to several million polygons at once, posed no problem at all for CINEMA 4D. The next step in the creation process included the animation of the gasoline making its way through the hydrogen motor.
Marc states, "A keen eye and CINEMA 4D's Advanced Render technology made it possible to quickly create renderings that could barely be discerned from photos of the real thing. CINEMA 4D was definitely the right choice."
