Leading European Manufacturer of Rainwater Harvesting Devices Uses CINEMA 4D to Visualize Its Products

For over 45 years, the brand Graf has stood for innovation in the manufacture of high-quality plastic products.

Graf GmbH first offered rainwater harvesting devices in 1974 and is now the European market leader in the field of rainwater harvesting devices. Currently, the greater part of Graf GmbH's turnover is generated in the field of water management.

The challenges of visualizing such complex equipment for promotional purposes are constantly increasing, even to the point that conventional methods of photography no longer suffice or are prohibitively expensive. Whereas CAD files have replaced the laborious process of creating 2D product visualizations, CINEMA 4D steps in to make breathtaking product visualizations using these CAD files.

Using CINEMA 4D greatly speeds up the visualization process, which is paramount when bringing new products onto the market.

The files used are generally sent directly from Graf GmbH's internal development department and are imported via PolyTrans into CINEMA 4D where they can be further modified. Water is simulated using XPresso Expressions and the use of Multi-Pass Rendering reduces the time needed for fine-tuning images.

In addition to product visualizations, movies are also created using CINEMA 4D. For example, an external contractor used CINEMA 4D to create a movie demonstrating rainwater harvesting devices in 2006. This movie was edited in-house in 2007 for publication in five languages for DVD and Web application. Also in 2007, an animation montage was created for the new Carat series of rainwater tanks. Production time was reduced greatly by using Multi-Pass Rendering in combination with the NET Render module.

Furthermore, Graf GmbH successfully uses the CINEMA 4D Engineering Edition for the creation of installation guides and tutorials.
