The idea was to use dynamic transitions to travel through various musical eras. The ad features a young person who, after donning headphones, travels through several musical eras, each with a corresponding background, modes of transportation and fashion. By removing the headphones the central character leaves the virtual world and returns to the real world. The entire animation was created in a duotone look featuring Musicload's C.I. colors. The technical challenge this project posed was the animation of the background elements. In order to achieve the desired look they had to be hand-drawn and cut into numerous small pieces. It was quite a challenge to maintain the required level of detail in a duotone look.
"The animations were created with the help of CINEMA 4D's MoGraph module and C4D's MOCCA module was used to animate the clothing. CINEMA 4D's excellent timeline workflow made working on this project much easier. Another module, the cartoon renderer, Sketch and Toon, displayed outstanding dependability for the creation of the animation's sketched look". said Sehsucht's lead 3D artist, Hannes Geiger.
A special part of this project was that all artists involved were able to immortalize themselves on posters, stickers or as graffiti within the animation. A total of six artists worked four weeks to create this 30-second TV spot.
