Maxon and Redshift Featured in Apple WWDC Keynote 3D Development Support for New Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR to Enhance 3D Graphics Performance.
During the June 3rd 2019 Apple World Wide Developers Conference in San Jose, Calif., Maxon was recognized in the company's keynote address for its exceptional support of the performance enhancements coming in the all-new Mac Pro workstation and Pro Display XDR.
According to Apple, the "...all-new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR are the most powerful tools Apple has ever put in the hands of pro customers and will change pro workflows forever."
As an Apple development partner, Maxon performance gains were cited as having "... seen 20% faster GPU render performance in Cinema 4D than on a Windows workstation maxed out with three of the latest Nvidia Quadro cards."
Further excitement was garnered with the announcement of Maxon's commitment to bring Redshift rendering engine to the Mac optimized for Metal, Apple's hardware-accelerated 3D graphics interface.
"Tapping into the amazing performance of the new Mac Pro, we're excited to develop Redshift for Metal, and we're working with Apple to bring an optimized version to the Mac Pro for the first time by the end of the year," said David McGavran, CEO, Maxon. "We're also actively developing Metal support for Cinema 4D, which will provide our Mac users with accelerated workflows for the most complex content creation."
Maxon has a history of firsts on the Mac platform to deliver performance for the most demanding 3D content creation tasks. Cinema 4D was the first 3D package to offer multiprocessing capabilities on a Mac, the first professional 3D graphics application released as a Universal Binary for Apple's new Intel-powered Macs (even before Apple Universal Binary versions of its own software were released), and the first to support the 64-bit architecture on a Mac. In addition, Cinema 4D has received numerous awards over the years including multiple honors from Macworld magazine as the best '3D & Video Software of the Year"
