Thanks
32 years ago, after a quite boring university lecture, we three computer freaks were sitting in a university café and came up with the crazy idea of publishing a computer periodical, which we then set up in typical Silicon Valley style: in a garage. At the time nobody had any idea what this would turn in to …
Even years later when two brothers submitted a ten-page program code for Program of the Month that turned out to be the initial spark for Cinema 4D which, with a dedicated development team that has since grown 42-fold, became the Maxon product we know today that is loved by so many users.
This was made possible by a great Maxon team – which has grown to an outstanding company with several global locations – whose euphoria and sacrifice has created a product unrivaled in its field. For this, we have the greatest respect and are very grateful. This also goes to our sales partners, who treat Cinema 4D as their own baby; all third-party developers (you build the best plug-ins, including some features which we sometimes simply didn’t have enough time); the very active C4D community who value mutual respect and helping others over keeping knowledge to yourselves (this is incredible); our beta testers who joined us at our legendary Maxon parties until the early morning hours; the artists who moved us to tears with their stories and experiences all around Cinema 4D; and of course all Cinema 4D users whom we gave a product which – we hope – helped them master their everyday work with success and with fun. Thanks to everyone! Without each and every one of you, the past 32 years would not have been as successful, as interesting or as fun. We’re proud of you!
Cinema 4D has experienced fundamental internal technical changes and improvements over the past few years. A completely new, robust program core and an effective system architecture are already at work in the current Release and make up the state-of-the-art heart of Cinema 4D. This strong, new heart will ensure that Cinema 4D meets and exceeds the challenges required for your complex data and render-intensive needs long into the future. Most of these changes have been implemented behind the scenes and now a very special part will be visible – and useable … and well-informed internal sources promise that there is much more to come!
Cinema 4D’s original code, which itself was very effective and robust, is being replaced by the next generation of code, which in a way re-ignites the founding spirit we had when Cinema 4D was born …
To bring this energy and the resulting potential to full fruition, we’ve decided to pass the baton to a new generation of management whose experience, finesse and instincts will take this renewed founding spirit and take the best company in the world and the best future-oriented 3D application ever into a new, even more successful era. We’re looking forward to giving the new management team a running start with the upcoming Cinema 4D Release, which we think will be a milestone in Maxon history.
The three of us will stay true to 3D: everywhere you look, whether it’s in television, film, magazines, advertising, online or in virtual space – you will find 3D and with it a piece of Maxon, Cinema 4D and our artists' great work.
So long, and thanks
