Become a Certified Cinema 4D Pro User How Maxon’s Pro User Certification Program helps artists demonstrate their skills to clients and potential employers.
Whether you’re a freelance Cinema 4D artist or an employee working in-house, it can sometimes be difficult to show off your skillset. Maxon’s Pro User Certification can change that.
Artists who pass Maxon’s C4D Pro User Certification test with a score of 90 percent or above can easily demonstrate to potential clients and employers that they have what it takes to be part of a professional 3D pipeline.
Companies can also use the certification test to evaluate and ensure that employees have the skills to contribute substantially to wide-ranging projects. And it’s also possible to certify one or more members of a team to be the in-house Champion user of Cinema 4D, making them to go-to person for others.
Maxon Master Trainer Jonas Pilz worked closely recently with Germany based hl-studios on Pro User Certification for their team. Here’s what Florian Förster, head of CGI and senior CGI artists David Rosenberger and Michael Bernert had to say about it.
Tell us about hl-studios.
Förster: We are a full-service B2B communication agency, and we create everything from print, interactive experiences, events to film, CGI, and more. Our CGI team is using Cinema 4D, ZBrush and Red Giant Universe and that has been the case for more than 20 years.
Why did you want to do the Pro User Certification?
Rosenberger: I think the Pro User Certification is very useful because it challenges you to deal with all areas offered in Cinema 4D. The goal is always to learn more and to get better. We learned some helpful new things while preparing for and taking the test that we can now incorporate in our personal workflows.
Internally, being certified means that we are now the official go-to people for our colleagues when they have questions about Cinema 4D. But having our skills certified by Maxon is also a great way to show to our customers that we know what we are doing.
How did you prepare for the certification test?
Bernert: Of course, the best way to prepare is to work with the software every day. Although our work is mainly focused on industrial visualization, we are always using most of the tools in Cinema 4D’s extensive toolset to some extent, which is great! But it’s hard to know what you don’t know. That’s where the Certification Topics List on Maxon’s website helped a lot.
I prepared myself primarily through that list because it lists all the topics and categories that could be part of the test. It helped, too, that many of the topics were enhanced by links to related learning resources, like Cinema 4D online help, as well as tutorials on Cineversity and Quick Tips.
How is the certification helpful to you when hiring freelancers?
Förster: The certification makes it easy for us to get freelancers because we can completely exclude the question of whether the person has the necessary knowledge. A simple showreel never tells us if they did it alone or in what timeframe. This certification shows us that the freelancer can do the job. Whoever has this certificate can get started right away. What more could we want?
