Cinesite Uses BodyPaint 3D in Movie Epic 'King Arthur' image

Cinesite Uses BodyPaint 3D in Movie Epic 'King Arthur' Cinesite, one of the largest visual imaging facilities in the world, uses Maxon's 3D paint software BodyPaint 3D to help create jaw-dropping visual effects for movies like 'King Arthur'.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer ('Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,' 'Black Hawk Down'), 'King Arthur' is a spectacular tale of one man's destiny to become a king.

Cinesite has provided all of the digital effects and the visual effects supervision for 'King Arthur.' One of the major sequences created by Cinesite involves a battle on an ice lake that is surrounded by a magnificent, steep-sided mountain gorge. The entire ice lake environment was textured using BodyPaint 3D.

Maxon's award-winning paint app was also used by Cinesite to texture many other elements in 'King Arthur,' including a computer-generated hawk and some of the Saxon armies.

Dottie Starling, Digital Effects Supervisor for 'King Arthur,' said: "At Cinesite we take on lots of artists from varied backgrounds, so it's essential that they can adapt to our suite of tools quickly. We found that BodyPaint 3D was not only powerful, but also very easy for everyone to learn and adjust to. That's why we added it to our toolset."

Cinesite's involvement in the movie is a triumph for the London-based effects team: This is the first time a major effects-heavy Bruckheimer film has post produced in the UK.

Cinesite (Europe) Ltd was founded in 1992 as a Kodak subsidiary and part of the company's Entertainment Imaging division. Effects Associates is a subsidiary of Cinesite (Europe) Ltd.
